GRASS VALLEY 8/28/02 (YSN) - The unknown victim killed Saturday in a solo car crash on Allison Road was 31-year-old Carl McCorsky, the Califonria Highway Patrol reported Wednesday.
Thirty-year-old Erik Nelander was the second, non-fatal victim in the accident, Both were from the Grass Valley, although McCorsky apparently only recently moved there from Lawndale, CHP Traffic Officer Jerry Curro said.
The crash victims' names could not be determined immediately because neither carried identification when they were ejected from a 1969 Datsun station wagon as it left the roadway about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Curro said.
It was still unclear which was driving, although investigators believe it was McCorsky, because the vehicle was registered in his name, Curro said
According to CHP reports, both men suffered serious head injuries. McCorsky was pronounced dead at the scene. Nelander was taken to Sutter Hospital in Roseville where he remained in critical condition Wednesday, a hospital official said.
