YUBA CITY, Calif. 5/21/02 (YSN) - A young woman found dead in a south city orchard over the weekend has been identified as Carol Rosali Guillen, 20, Sutter County Undersheriff Bill Grove said Tuesday.
A bicyclist discovered Guillen's fully-clad body about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in an orchard at Bogue and Grove roads. She had been shot "more than twice" in the face, Grove said.
Guillen's compact car was later found parked at a convenience store about two miles away. Investigators believe the Honda Civic was left there sometime between 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday.
A teacher's aide, Guillen reportedly left her Lincoln Road residence about 6:30 p.m. Saturday without saying where she was going. Her further movements remain unclear, with investigators unsure whether she was killed in the orchard, or elsewhere, Grove said.
There were no immediate signs of sexual assault, Grove said. A final autopsy report is not expected for several weeks.
