Will they be sorry? The BBC today reports that Conrgess has passed a law limiting blubber suits against fast food outlets.
The US House of Representatives has voted 276-139 for a bill that would prevent lawsuits against the food industry for making people fat.

The so-called Cheeseburger Bill bans frivolous lawsuits against producers and sellers of food and non-alcoholic drinks arising from obesity claims. BBC
The combined corporate-congressional message here appears to be: "Hey, suckers, if we're making your fat, just don't buy us."
They say this as if they believe the public is too stupid or too weak to take them at their word.
The bill supporters say consumers have to realise they cannot blame others for the consequences of their actions.
This may sound like yet another lock-step vote to reduce -- Is there a the pun in there? -- corporate responsibilities and citizen options, but there may be a dark lining in this silver cloud for Big Business. People may take the cue and stop buying fastfood crap. And wouldn't McDonald's, Arbys and Taco Bell be hurting then.

Actually It wouldn't take too many boycotters to make Jack-in-a-Box to feel the pinch/ When you deal in volume, the profit margin is relatively slim -- Another pun?

In fact, targeting one chain at a time until they went out of business (or, more likely changed their names and sauces) would work faster.

The health-conscious public may want to take note of the visible irony here.

Consider how reluctant slow Congress hs been to pass bills to improve health care for the citizenry. Nay, how absolutely resistant to it, the elected lackeys have been. Remember the tooth-and-nail battle to defeat the Clinton bill that would have expanded health care coverage for the poor?

Recall that? Well, look how responsive congessional members are is to is corporate donors:
The vote came a day after a new study said obesity was likely to become the nation's biggest preventable killer, overtaking smoking.
