Hold nose; save America: It seems no one is entirely happy with John F. Kerry as a candidate, but they'll hold their noses and vote, for want of a choice. Why, even Tom Engelhardt of TomDispatch appears to be going along, reluctantly. As Engelhardt opens his latest message in a bottle:
This is all possible, unless, of course, the Bushites panic this year and gin up some fake emergency and declare martial law, (or something along those lines) to cancel elections.
Here's a little rundown of various developments of the last week, not a single one of which adds up to good news for the Bush administration as it launches itself into eight months of mortal combat with not-quite-Democratic-presidential-nominee Senator John Kerry.Getting America back to what it was before (See: John Lennon and The Beatles) will require two or three steps. Maybe more. Get Bush out and Kerry in. Jettison Kerry as soon as possible and put in an unbought, unpaid for, ungreedy and unvicious person of some stature and thoughtfulness.
This is all possible, unless, of course, the Bushites panic this year and gin up some fake emergency and declare martial law, (or something along those lines) to cancel elections.
