Maybe Bush is consulting the wrong edition. According to NY Times reviewer Janet Maslin, scholar Adam Nicolson has shown that not all of the early versions of the King James Bible -- which, it truns out, was written by a committee of think-tankers with a political agenda -- were the same:
"He points out that the finished work was never precisely uniform, so that some copies could accidentally confuse Judas with Jesus and cite "Thou shalt commit adultery" as a commandment.Perhaps Billy Graham slipped GWB an oven-fresh version in which "Thou shalt lie," "Thou shalt commit murder" and "Covet thy neighbor's goods" were the editorially-preferred commandments.
