Man run over by train ID'd
MARYSVILLE (5/7/03) -- The man run over by a train while walking on the railroad tracks over the weekend was William Artamenko III, 35, a transient, a spokesman for the Yuba County coroner said.
A transient, Artamenko was following the tracks along the east bank of the Feather River when a train struck him Saturday night, according to Marysville police reports.
Artamenko died immediately, but his identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin, Yuba County Undersheriff Steve Durfor said.
Transients camping in the riverbottoms often use the tracks as a route to downtown and a rescue mission they frequent, a police spokesman said.
