YUBA CITY 9/21/02 (YSN) - A Sutter County jury found Bulmaro C. Ruiz, 25, guilty of shooting Arnoldo S. Gonsalez, 28, to death last November in a Sutter County orchard.
The jury convicted Ruiz Friday of murder during the commission of a felony, robbery, transportation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale. Ruiz was tried previously in the same case, but the first jury deadlocked.
Ruiz and two unnamed men were purchasing about 30 pounds of marijuana worth about $90,000 from Gonsalez when Gonzalez was killed, prosecutors alleged.
The two accomplices carried away about 27 pounds of the contraband, it was estimated.
Superior Court Judge Chris Chandler ordered Ruiz back to court Oct. 17 for sentencing. He could receive a prison term of life without parole.
