Boring ‘Democracy’ killed in America: Critics loved the Cold War political thriller, both in the UK and here, but US audiences yawned.

Forget the four stars system.

Gum-chewing Christian tourists from Ohio and Alabama who saw ‘Democracy’ on Broadway gave it a 65 on the American Bandstand ranking system.

“It had no singing, no dancing and no clean sex, plus the words were sometimes longer than one syllable,” one complained.

“Where were the stars and stripes? Nobody saluted the flag, God wasn’t mentioned, and there was no happy moment at the end where everyone kisses and makes up,” said another.

“Booooooring,” summed up one stock broker’s secretary and part-time fashion model who would only give the name, “Lustine.”
