But it's better than no opinion at all
The world’s low opinion of America is well deserved. Not just because of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan wars, or because we insist on destroying the world by over consumption and waste, or because we are we won’t listen to reason. No, it's because we got no class.
You demand proof?
In an end of the year wrap-up, Google says that the web’s most-searched topic in 2005 was "Janet Jackson," apparently due to her Superbowl deshabille, as well as other pruriently interesting occurrences in her life.
A fresh Google search this morning showed the JJ queries stood at an even 3,450,000. "String theory;" "polar bear, population, decline;" "Bush, drinking, again;" and all that hoopla surrounding her brother Michael’s child molestation trial, notwithstanding, it was Janet’s briefly glimpsed, pastie-protected nipple that won out, according to the London Free Press.
In a year of devastating natural disasters and terrorist attacks, Janet Jackson was the most popular search subject on Google. And all this from a nation that brags about being the holiest, Christian, god-fearing place on the planet.
Even though her infamous wardrobe malfunction happened a year ago and this was the year her newsmaker brother Michael beat child molestation charges, Jackson managed to surpass hurricane Katrina, the tsunami and the launch of Microsoft's Xbox 360 as the most popular search of the year.
(And, yes, in fact I do realize that people around the globe use Google as well, but we're the main visitors.)
