This opinion is not the product of a scientific, or even an academic poll or study. It's merely the result of a lifetime of observation. Random, chancy and anecdotal to be sure, but vivid and certain.
It seems that a century of capitalist propaganda and government repression has made even the words "socialism," "Marxism." "communism" and anarchy" strike fear, parapyzing fear, into ordinary people who were not taught what the words mean, only that just naming them means trouble and ostracism in America.
This is more proof that the ignorance successfully fostered by one corporate-backed US government after another has destroyed the quaint notion of free thought, free inquiry and freedom itself. Worse, it shows how such devoutly self-imposed ignorance amounts to a permanent permanent disability, like having half your brain atrophy.
