Fire up the chiffonier. A meal of crow is in order for all the print pundits and broadcast blowhards who castigated anyone and everyone who doubted the honesty of Bush and his handlers in the run-up to the Iraq invasion. Nay, a feast, an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet.

Time, it seems -- and not much of it -- has proven all those early Doubting Thomases and Thomasinas were right to be suspicious.

Of all the quick-to-calumniate columnists, George Will should lead the line of humble pie diners -- and have summer interns to help him bus his dishes, according to Norman Solomon.

Will wrote and spoke hatefully of all those slow with their flag decals and lapel pins, Solomon says.
There was special venom for [Seattle's Jim] McDermott in the column. Will could not abide the spectacle of a Congressperson casting doubt on George W. Bush's utter veracity. "McDermott's accusation that the president – presumably with Cheney, Powell, Rumsfeld, Rice and others as accomplices – would use deceit to satisfy his craving to send young Americans into an unnecessary war is a slander."

But are there any mea culpas on the menu? Have any of the flag-wavers with forums worked up appetite for apologizing?

"…Will has an impressive vocabulary. Too bad it doesn't include the words 'I'm sorry'," sighs Solomon.

Well, yell "Yellowcake for dessert," and perhaps Rush Limbaugh -- who appears to have waddled through a few buffets in his time -- will elbow to the fore and make a pigs-in-a-blanket apology for all is kind.

Solomon's exegesis on what was said, and who might correct themselves for it is a must read.
