France challenges White House lies. France has officially objected in writing to the provocative lies the Bush Administration has been circulating in an a concerted effort to "punish" it for opposing the Iraq invasion and helping to expose the bogus WMD intelligence claims the Bushoviks churned out in its unsuccessful campaign to extract a UN endorsement of the invasion, The Times of London reports.
The unprecedented letter, signed by the French Ambassador to the US and drafted in the Foreign Ministry in Paris, details an “organized campaign of disinformation” from within the US Government over the past nine months.
The retort to the White House carries with it a strong, albeit indirect, denunciation of the American media for its journalistic failure to provide a balanced examination of the war hype.
The stories, all of which France has denied, are from anonymous “administration officials”, states the letter, which is signed by Jean-David Levitte, the French Ambassador to America.
